| Description |
The role requires a working knowledge of the IT systems and operational procedures in use in the ICT department. The role holder will apply this knowledge to solve a range of problems and/or conribute to decisions made by others. A computing degree or equivalent experience is prefable. Experience should include three or more of the following: office and business system servers, Content management systems, Cisco local director, Web server technologies, VMWare, Quality Assurance and ITIL, systems administration, database administration, systems security and networking protocols. The post-holder will provide second line technical support to other IT staff and users, and must also provide assistance to customers with issues relating to remote access to services. The role holder will identify situations that require corrective action and will select the most appropriate solution. The role holder will make technical assessments of potential suppliers of data, software or IT services required by the organisation.
